Nothing eloquent or graceful; just some thoughts and struggles that weigh down a tired soul, and if they are not allowed to escape, I feel as though I will burst at the seams. We all know the age old saying, “the drowning man will always try to drag someone down with him”, and the 2016 film Passengers… Wow, 2016? Has it really been five years since I watched that movie in theaters? Man. How the time flies…
*Ahem*. I digress…
If you’ve seen Passengers, you should be familiar with the choice that the would-be protagonist Jim Preston made. It set the course for the rest of the film, and towards the end one of the others characters says of Jim, “the drowning man will always try to drag someone down with him. It ain’t right, but the man’s drowning.”
So what do we do when we feel like we are isolated, sinking deep, drowning? Our hand is outstretched, we’ve been pushed to our limit and feel as though the whole world is crumbling down right on top of us? Worse still, no one seems to notice or care or understand just how much we are hurting? What, then? Do we lash out, shut down, grow as cold as the dark that envelops us? Cling to the hand that reaches out to rescue us and drag it down into the deep with us?
I’ve been fighting a battle with depression for years, now. Too often, I look backwards in time and reflect on choices that I have made and wonder how I could have made such terrible decisions. I am not where I wanted to be at this stage of my life. My path has been riddled with bad ideas and the consequences they brought.
It’s simple, really. As my first post in quite some time, I’ll just share some thoughts, feelings, and maybe an idea or two. No edits or complicated sifting through the text.
For starters, I simply don’t have the time to write enough to truly keep this blog alive, though I will do my best to keep adding to the content on my website. I would LOVE to write full time, but that just doesn’t seem to be in the cards for me right now. I’m not bitter about it, although I certainly was for longer than I really would care to admit. God has listened to more than His fair share of complaints from me, and not all of them were valid.
A rudimentary yet clever piece of artwork adorns this post. Pictured is a Colt 45 “Peacemaker”, a weapon dubbed such at a time when laws hadn’t been well fleshed out yet and the “lawmen” as they were called back then, used force, even lethal force, to see that peace was kept in their territory.Â
In our ever-increasing pacifist culture, such a stance fly’s in the face of what we see every day. We arraign the innocent while releasing the guilty. This has been happening for years as our society devolves more and more under the guise of becoming more “progressive” in our way of thought. Death penalties are being abandoned for the depraved and murderous while “drug peddlers” who dare sneak marijuana into the hands of the sick for the purpose of life and healing are seeing longer prison terms than ever. Now, however, we have slid even further down the rabbit hole and have actually started letting the guilty out of jails before their full sentence has been served… Why? They might get sick…
*cough* Hold on… if a contained environment makes someone more vulnerable to infection (it does), how is that our concern? If a free individual does not wish to suffer such a risk, perhaps they should not have committed the crime which placed them in handcuffs in the first place, hmm? Yet they continue to walk free, first a few, now in the hundreds at last count. Some have already been arrested again for the same charge that earned them their imprisonment the first time! And which people are beginning to re-fill those empty cells? Those that defy the mandatory curfews and quarantines under which they have been illegally placed.
*sigh* Surely so few are not as blind as it seems. There is always a remnant. To that I will cling, even if the group is so small that it can be measured on one hand. I will side with the righteous, no matter the cost. My ideals are built on the Bible, on God’s guidance, and the history of our own once-great country that was founded on these same principles.Â

If you do not immediately recognize those words, it shows quite deeply how much our nation has deceived you. They should be inscribed in every public entrance, adorning our homes and engraved on our hearts. It was by violence that the men who drafted that article attained freedom for themselves and their families, and I fear that it is soon again by violence that we must hold to ours. To do so would not be wrong, as many are now stating. With our liberties in jeopardy we would be well within the scope of our own laws to take up arms and defend our lives. This, dear reader, when done at the guidance of God and for righteous’ sake according to the Constitution of these United States of America, would indeed make you into more than just a peacemaker. You would be a patriot.
Before you argue, I’d urge you to watch the NBC news video below and ask yourself if you have any interest at all in being herded like the meek individuals portrayed. No argument, no struggle… Their fight began with defying the mandatory lock-down but ended without any resistance in the back of a prison cargo truck. We’re next, America.

So my blog has been inactive for quite some time as I focused on my family, career and the completion of my fantasy trilogy. Well… Today marks my birthday, the 27th time I have recognized the occasion, to be precise, but it is also the first time that it passed me by for most of the day without my even realizing it was the 24th. As it turns out, March 24th, 2020 will likely be marked in my own personal history as the birthday most remembered not for celebration of life but of a fear so deeply rooted within me that I did not mark the date, nor even know at first that it had come to pass.
